Hospedaje
Recoleta is run by a guy named Javier Marroquin who always goes way
out of his way to help out his boarders. I stayed at Hospedaje Recoleta
for about 6 weeks and became pretty good friends with Javier. Ha has
connections with many tour companies and always has a god recommendation.
I took several tours that he arranged and they were all excellent. They
serve a typical Peruvian breakfast every morning, often with the smiling
help of Javier's lovely wife or mother. The rooms themselves are nicely
furnished and face a quaint interior courtyard. Javier has also recently
installed individual water heaters for each bathroom so you always have
hot water.| In Cuzco, my girlfriend and I stayed at a great, charming guest house very close to the main square in Cuzco. I highly recommend this bargain. We paid $10 /person and got our own private bath with hot water all the time. The rooms (and bathrooms) were very clean and decorated nicely. Each day, a typical Peruvian breakfast is served, which is included in the price. You eat out on this cute little patio and there is a small courtyard with garden. There is also a little room for reading and relaxing. Best of all, the owner, Javier Marroquin, is the nicest man. He is truly proud of Cuzco and Peru and is very knowledgeable about all the tourists attractions. We asked about the sacred tour trip, he booked us on the trip with no problems. We wanted to go on the Machu Picchu trek, he showed us the way. Though I don't think this is a service, my girlfriend told me that he even fronted money for a tour for her friend. Javier makes sure that you have the best possible stay in the town he grew up I, Cuzco. He even picked us up at the airport. In short, you cannot beat this deal in Cuzco. We stayed there for five days in August, and I loved it there so much that I also stayed there for a week when I returned to Cusco in September. Javier ran more than a guest house. He set up tours for me and my friends with the local tour agencies that he knew for anything and everything- the Jungle/ the city tour/ Sacred Valley Tour and the trek to Machu Picchu. He fills out an evaluation form for each company so he knows how well the different agencies treated his guests. Because he lives there, he knows how to ensure that your tour stays small, that the guides spoke fluent English, and that you got the lowest price available for the quality. Javier will arrange all of it for you- so you don't have to haggle with the agencies, or sign up for an overpriced trip where the guide does not speak English. Javier even pulled strings to get my friend a seat on the train to Machu Picchu when it was sold out. More than that- Javier really took an interest in us- he took us out for drinks at a local bar on our last night in town. Erin Schneider |
Javier
runs a guest house- I'm not sure how many rooms but I think at least
five or six. There is hot water 24 hours a day- the rooms ARE FANTASTIC
and he serves breakfast every morning on his porch. He speaks great
English as does his wife. Javier will pick you up from the Cusco airport
and drive you to his guesthouse. He serves you mate de coca when you
first arrive and makes sure you are acclimated before he recommends
any activity. All of his rooms have a private bath.| We recently travelled to Peru and had the good fortune of staying in a wonderful Guest House in Cusco. I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone travelling to Cusco. The guest house is located just six minutes from the Plaza de Armas, the main square in the centre of Cusco.. The guest house has a warm and friendly home-like atmosphere. It is extremely clean and features rooms with private baths, 24 hour a day hot water and includes breakfast each morning. It is run by Javier Marroquin, a congenial host who went out of his way to ensure that our stay with him was a memorable one. He speaks English extremely well and we were able to make our arrangements ahead of time through e-mail communication. He picked us up from the Cusco airport, advised us on the historical culture in Cusco and personally assisted us in making arrangements for sightseeing excursions. He looked after personal items such as laundry, and personal purchases on our behalf and even attended the travel agency office with us to assist in making further flight arrangements. We have very fond memories of Peru and especially our time in Cusco with Javier. Again, I would personally recommend this guest house to anyone travelling to Cusco. Lois Burton and Ernie Higgs |
| The familiar atmosphere of the inn was a please in itself, but the real treat, and what made the experience delightfully unique, was the owner/manager, Mr. Javier Marroquin. From the moment he met me personally at the airport to the time I left, Mr Marroquin (who speaks reasonably good English) was dazzling in his attention to detail and his eagerness to assist with my tourism needs. Over a welcoming coffee, he outlined all the significant tourist opportunities in Cusco and the surrounding region, quoting prices and offering valuable pro and con insights to the different options. He made all my local tour arrangements for me as well as setting up a three-day trip to Machu Picchu, with train tickets, hotel reservations, etc. In short, Mr Marroquin made my stay in Cusco extremely productive and nearly effortless, with a friendly, non-intrusive style that was a welcome change from the high-pressure "sales jobs" frequently encountered on the tourist trail. | We stayed six nights in Javier's house. The atmosphere was very friendly, the house of Javier is perfect for young people like us. Everything is clean, the breakfast is very good, the price is not too expensive and Javier is doing his best to help his guests. If we will come back to Cusco, surely we will come back here. | We very much enjoyed our stay at Hostal Recoleta. The rooms were quiet, clean, with comfortable beds and the kitchen facilities made us feel very much at home. All the staff were polite and friendly and Javier, the owner took special care to make sure we had everything we needed and were well looked after. | 26/06/02 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Javier in Hospedaje Recoleta. Without Javiers help we would not have been able to enjoy our trek to Machhu Picchu, as he booked it for us AND paid our deposit before we even arrived in Cuzco. Our time here was very limited but we were able to fit in everything we wanted to do with Javiers help and organisation. Any questions we had were answered with the benefit of local knowledge and expertise. Our room was beautiful and we were aclimatised within hours, with all the Mate de Coca we were given! | Our stay @t the Recoleta Hostile was very enjoyable. Javier was hospitable to all of our needs. He did a great job of picking the tours + planning them for us. The rooms were very nice, with large comfortable single beds. The shower / bathroom was large and had very good hot water. Julie that works for Javier was very nice + hospitable as well. | 8 May 2002 We have stayed here for 5 nights and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet with an excellent shower and lots of hot water. Our host, Javier, was very very helpful during our stay organising tours and assisting us with our onward plans. He and his staff were always friendly and helpful. | 13/6/02 We stayed at the Hospedaje Turistico for eight (8) nights and had a wonderful stay. We had a room with four beds and a private bath. There was also a separate sitting room with a television for our us. The room was sunny and clean. Javier, his family, and staff were all very helpful and accomodating. They helped with taxis, tourist information and laundry. We felt very welcome and at home here. The walk to the main plaza is about 1/2 - 3/4 mile through the neighborhood and is enjoyable. If a taxi is preferred it is only 2 soles. The neighborhood shops have bread, soda and generally needed items. We would definitely stay here again! Vicki Gohl |
| Hospedaje Recoleta has a very friendly atmosfere. It is located in the
calur part of the city of Cuzco And the most important-you don’t
have to wall a hundred steps to got to it from Plaza de Armes.
The ownner of the Hospedaje-Javier and his family are great and they helped us a lot, especially when my boyfriend got seek.Javier helped us whit the doctor, medicines and everything else. He elso arraiged for us the itinerary for our Visit in Cuzco ( Sacred Valley, Machupicchu…) And booked o hostal in Arequipa. 31 01 2002 Estuvimos muy contentos en el hospedaje, mucho mejor que en los hoteles !!. Mas familiar y donde tuviéramos una sala para nosotros solos ! ni hablar de la limpieza, las sabanas, y la tranquilidad. (Tengo comparaciones de 6 años). Nunca mas hotel – Cada vez “ Hostal Recoleta”!!!!!! Yo he apreciado mucho los servicios especiales – , postales, tejas y confirmaciones de los billetes de vuelo. To whom ir may concern: My wife Katheleen and i spent a very enjoyable seven days at the Hospedaje Turistico Recoleta in Cuzco, Peru during the period 6-12 march 2002. Our stay in cuzco, along with aur travel trough the region to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu was efficiently organised and carefully overseen by Sr. Javier Marroquin. Sr. Marroquin provided us with very helpful advice about our travel plans, organised many of our activities (often at very short notice) and ensuied our stay with him was most pleasant and hassle-free. We have no nesitation in highly recommending the hospedaje Turistico Recoleta. It is located in Cuzco, provides many services including a laundry service and transfers for onward travel, and is very clean with a reliable hot water service. It is also loacated in a pretty and tranquil setting and has efficient and friendly staff. We wish Sr. Marroquin an staff all the best for the future. Andrew Georgiou |

| We had i wicked time here – Javier was wonderful. He was really
helpful with any information we wanted, or thought would be useful. The
hospedaje is very confortable and friendly and provides an excellent base
for exploring Cusco and the surrounding area. The homely atmosphere also
makes “La Recoleta” feel very safe, and we felt perfectly
happy leaving our valuables here.

| We have stayed for 7 nights, from 22-29 july 2002.
Our stay las been very pleasant, much of which has been due to the good standard of service of the Hospedaje Turistico Recoleta. Javier, the propietar, picked as up from the airport and from this point was extremely helpful, oftering as valueble advice on the Cusco area and specific tourisr information. Our room and beds were very confortable and clean, and the private bathroom provided 24 hours hot water. Breakfast and the provicion of warm drinks has been of a good standard. The staff have all been very friendy and helpful. We have received good advice about the next strage of our trip, this induded arranging transport and accomodation and a suggested itinerary. 17/October/2004 We stayed at Recoleta for 4 nights and think it is the best place we have satyed here in Peru¡ Javier is the friendliest owner we have met and will do anything to help. Julie and Vicki, the housekeepers are also very helpful and friendly. The breakfast are lovely and fresh, the beds are big and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and the little sittingroomwith TV is a goodsend when you need some down time to relax. The area feels safe and is nice and quiet while still being with in walking distance of the city center. The simple things such are as having an easly available supply of mineral water make things very easy. We have had a wonderful family friendly stay and would recommend it to anyone. Han hecho un trabajo muy completo para nosotros desde la limpieza, la cualidad del desayuno hasta la ayuda para disfrutar de Cuzco y de toda la zona. 13/September/2004 When we got to the hostel, it inmediately seened homely, welcoming and friendly. We were greeted by Javier and offered Coca Tea¡¡ Javier was Fantastic¡ He helped us organise our stay including sorting out a jungle trip, flights, white water rafting and a place to stay in Puno. Altogether a really nice friendly person. Breakfast was nice fresh bread, fruit and English coffee. Vicky was also brilliant she taught us spanishsirted out all our laundry (which we have to say was folded to perfection) and was just lovely¡¡ Our rooms for $10 each was value for money cleaned daily, fresh towels on arrival, and very confortable beds. 19/May/2004 Cuando buscamos por Internet un lugar en Cusco donde alojarnos, mirábamos que sea más o menos económico, que quedase cerca del centro, que las habitaciones no sean compartidas. Pero en ningun momento pensamos que en quienes eran los que nos iban a brindar todo eso y fue lo mejor que encontramos en este hostal, una claidad de gente increíble que nos hizo sentir realmente como en casa. 6/April/2004 Hello Cuzco! Our stay here was fabulous! The room we received had a bedroom, sitting room and private bath – much more than we expected for $10.00 a bed! The manager was welcoming and went out of her way to make ua comfortable in every possible way. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Cuzco. I will highly recommend this hostel to my friends!!!! It is welcoming atmosphere and pleasant interior have made my stay enjoyable. The staff are also pleasant and friendly as well as helpul and informative offering useful tourist information about the city and it’s surrounding area.
